February 2nd ALA Meeting
The next meeting is scheduled for February 2nd, 2012 at 7:30pm. We need to have all board members present for the ALA Board of Directors Election for 2012. All ALA members (individual and family) are encouraged to attend this meeting.

Club Shoot / Work Party
February 12th
February 12th is the monthly club shoot. Time starts at 9 am and normally runs until noon depending on the number of shooters who attend. SOmetimes it's sooner if no one is there, however, this month we have scheduled a work party to help make repairs to the shooting wall, and the work party will begin at noon.
We ask as many members and their families to attend this work party as possible. There is quite a bit of work involved in making sure the shooting wall is maintained properly.
We also ask for cooperation from Chicagoland JOAD shooters to also help with this work party.
Just a few fun facts about the shooting wall in 2011 that was recently passed:
These are ALA statistics only, this information does NOT include shooters from JOAD or FVPD classes. The information here is not 100% accurate, but is really close to it.
So here we go;
- There was a total of 30 member shooters that shot for 340 sessions in 2011 (some for scoring in leagues, some for fun, some for a few arrows, etc)
- There were 10 member Guest sessions
- Average was 29 sessions per month
- Average 7 sessions per week
- Only 9 member shooters shot sessions at least 12 times
Estimating the amount of arrows from just those statistics alone is practically impossible BUT let's just say that with those statistics alone... it's probably quite a bit of arrows being shot at the wall.
Add JOAD shooters and tournaments, and add FVPD archery classes on top of that, and the result is a wall that turns to dust (mainly in the middle)
So please help out and let's repair this wall so we ALL can continue to shoot at it.
Wild Game Dinner Information
As March 10th approaches, the much anticipated annual ALA Wild Game Dinner is a favorite for many in the community and ALA's largest annual event with as many as 200 guests appearing for an all out feast of nature's offerings.
Tickets are NOT available at this time, however, stay tuned to this web page for updated information, and if you have become ALA friends on Facebook, updates will be sent out keeping you informed about tickets.
Ticket prices will be the same as last year;
$10 for each adult
$5 for children ages 5 to 10
Free for children under 5
A beverage will be provided, but you are free to also bring your own beverage that you enjoy having with your wild game.
ALA will not supply alcoholic beverages.
Please also bring a side dish or dessert to pass. Many people really enjoy the wonderful contributions and tasty recipes made by others. Some come for just the side dishes alone!
Anything from corn bread to potato salad to scalloped potatoes, or brownies to layered gelatin to fresh fruit. Hot or cold, we love your contribution and so will many others.
Donations
The WGD is a community event. ALA does not purchase the food as it is supplied by many hunters who want to contribute to the club to make the event a great memory for all who attend.
The rule for donations of meat for the event have remained unchanged for many years. If you contribute a donation of game meats , fish, or bird, the minimum we'd like get is 10 pounds.
For that contribution, donors will receive a free ticket to the event. Please discuss your donation with Mike Hamburg by contacting him via email. See Contacts Page.
Other Donations
At the WGD we also like our raffles. But we can't have raffles without items to raffle off. ALA asks for all who would like to spread their company or business name to provide us with some of your company or business swag for our raffles. This is a great opportunity to clean out your garages, office closets, storage units, and file cabinets.
We also would like to hold individual ticket raffles that include items such as Tree Stands, Bow Cases, Hunting Apparel, and various equipment used for hunting or archery, however, we do understand that parting with these treasures may be difficult, but your donation will help the club mission.
Times may be hard, but if you want to perk up your customers and get them coming in your door, this is a great opportunity to do so. It may be around 200 people, but don't forget... they have lots of friends and family too.
We will also recognize you on Facebook and our website for your contributions.
Winter League Schedule
The next scheduled league is going to be a 450 round using the 3 Spot multi-colored face targets shooting 15 ends of 3 shots per end. It will be a total of 13 weeks (3 qualifier weeks, and 10 shooting weeks) with the final score to be turned in no later than April 7th.
The league fee will be $30 which includes prize money and your first 3 qualifier scores. After qualifiers, target fees will apply for $1 each week. If you wish to pay in full at the start of the league, the entire amount will be $40.
If you have prepaid your league fees in full, target cost is nothing. However, Club Shoot fees for members and non-members still apply regardless of being prepaid for the league. On non-Club Shoot days, target fees are $1 for league shooters regardless of member or non-member.
Other member and non-member shooting fees still apply for non-league shooters.
To register for the Winter League, please contact Karen Larsen. Both members and non-members can join the league.
3 Spot shooting rules - Scoring is done on a 3 Spot starting in the center as 10 points to the outer rings going down to 6 points. Any shot outside the outer ring is scored as a 0.
The order in which to shoot the spots goes from bottom left as target #1, top center as target #2, and lower right as target #3. You may shoot at any single spot for your end, or you may split your end amongst the 3 spots.
If you shoot one end of 3 shots at spot #1, your next end must be at #2, then #3 accordingly. Or you may shoot one shot at #1, one shot at #2, and one shot at #3 for your end to score.
