February 2012

***2012 Waiver Required***

All shooters at the Lippold Center and any other Auroraland Archers venue must sign a new waiver every year BEFORE being allowed to participate.
This is required in order to meet the obligations to our insurance provider.

The waiver book is kept on SHOOTER, not just club members.

You may download the 2012 Waiver form here 2012ALAWaiver.pdf

February Club Meeting

Our next general club meeting will be Thursday, February 2nd at 7:30pm at Lippold Center on Route 25 in Batavia.
We ask all members to do their best to attend these meetings.

"Thanks for helping to keep the future of Auroraland Archers bright. Our club is nothing without its members" -Karen Larsen

Club Shoots - OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

Every second Sunday of each month is the scheduled club shoot. Though times may vary, it is generally 9am to 1pm. Please use this opportunity to support the club and other club members by spending a couple hours once a month and attend the club shoots.
It's a great chance to meet other members and hone your skills.

The shoots may vary in type (i.e, 300 shoot, 450 Round, Dart Face, etc) but the club shoot fee is $5.00 for both members and non-members per person. Spectators are free.

2012 Election Results

Due to an unfortunate turnout in January for elections, it was deemed an invalid vote last month as 10 members and the President needed to be present at the election, and there were only 9 voting members with no President at the meeting.

However, last night proved to be a good election as 10 members were present with the President presiding and another election was held that was agreed as official and valid.
The results of the election is as follows;

Vice President - Mike Hamburg

Registration Chairperson - Mark Melchiori

Correspondence Secretary - Michelle Helwig

2 yr. Board Member - Mark Casey

1 yr. Board Member - Randy Voss

1 yr. Board Member - George McGoldrick

1 yr. Board Member - Terry Bennett

1 yr. Board Member - Russ Kunes (write in and pending acceptance of position)

Welcome ALA Board members for 2012!

A Board installation meeting will be scheduled soon to welcome any new board members and to go over the club business, activities, and plans for the year.

Wild Game Dinner Information

As March 10th approaches, the much anticipated annual ALA Wild Game Dinner is a favorite for many in the community and ALA's largest annual event with as many as 200 guests appearing for an all out feast of nature's offerings.

Tickets are NOT available at this time, however, stay tuned to this web page for updated information, and if you have become ALA friends on Facebook, updates will be sent out keeping you informed about tickets.

Ticket prices will be the same as last year;
$10 for each adult
$5 for children ages 5 to 10
Free for children under 5

A beverage will be provided, but you are free to also bring your own beverage that you enjoy having with your wild game.
ALA will not supply alcoholic beverages.

Please also bring a side dish or dessert to pass. Many people really enjoy the wonderful contributions and tasty recipes made by others. Some come for just the side dishes alone!
Anything from corn bread to potato salad to scalloped potatoes, or brownies to layered gelatin to fresh fruit. Hot or cold, we love your contribution and so will many others.

Donations

The WGD is a community event. ALA does not purchase the food as it is supplied by many hunters who want to contribute to the club to make the event a great memory for all who attend.
The rule for donations of meat for the event have remained unchanged for many years. If you contribute a donation of game meats , fish, or bird, the minimum we'd like get is 10 pounds.
For that contribution, donors will receive a free ticket to the event. Please discuss your donation with Mike Hamburg by contacting him via email. See Contacts Page.

Other Donations

At the WGD we also like our raffles. But we can't have raffles without items to raffle off. ALA asks for all who would like to spread their company or business name to provide us with some of your company or business swag for our raffles. This is a great opportunity to clean out your garages, office closets, storage units, and file cabinets.

We also would like to hold individual ticket raffles that include items such as Tree Stands, Bow Cases, Hunting Apparel, and various equipment used for hunting or archery, however, we do understand that parting with these treasures may be difficult, but your donation will help the club mission.
Times may be hard, but if you want to perk up your customers and get them coming in your door, this is a great opportunity to do so. It may be around 200 people, but don't forget... they have lots of friends and family too.
We will also recognize you on Facebook and our website for your contributions.

ALA website moved to www.auroralandarchers.org

For many years Auroraland Archers has had an internet presence and has become well known as AuroralandArchers.com, but with advancements in technology and website capabilities, it was decided to move ALA from a commercial web address to an organizational one. As ALA is an organization and not a commercial site, we want to proceed in making the club known as an organization to the community.

The move will allow ALA to better provide information and services to members and non-members alike.

www.auroralandarchers.com moved to www.auroralandarchers.org

Please update your favorites, weblinks, and shortcuts now as www.auroralandarchers.org

Facebook fundraiser activated
Please help support the club

ALA now has a fundraiser activated on Facebook. In an ongoing effort for the club to give back to the community and host fun shoots for kids, set up an after school archery program, and sponsor other community based events.

ALA Facebook has a fundraiser that will allow you to purchase a $25 Restaurants.com gift certificate at a reduced rate of $10 at thousands of restaurants located in the Chicagoland and Auroraland area.
Not sure if you want to try a new restaurant? Not sure if you can spend the extra money to go there? Then grab a certificate from our site.

ALA receives $4 for every Restaurants.com certificate purchased through Facebook

So please, spread the word to friends and family and help our cause. Within hours of announcing this new fundraiser activity, purchases had already started to be made.
Continue to visit ALA Facebook and see the fundraiser progress.

THANK YOU.
